SciFi Gun - First Model

So, first model down, here's most of the process in video form:

Part9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NclKn5ObAfg

A quick note, for some reason the UVs on my file have screwed up and I don't know why. Look at the final video to see the textures the way they're meant to be. Hopefully I'll be able to fix that.

As for my evaluation:

I feel as though the design did exactly what I wanted it to do. I was aiming for near future Sci Fi but I am a bit concerned that because of this, the actual design appears lacklustre and bland.

Model itself I think works well. I was without orthographic images due to being unable to scan anything in. That certainly made things a lot harder for me. However, despite that, I think it came out great, without too many polygons and most of the topology is neat.

The UV mapping was difficult and I struggled getting the workflow down. Even now I am unsure if I was working in the correct way.

The textures, I feel, are the weakest part of the model. It is something I am hoping to be able to improve upon, perhaps attempting other styles than "realistic".
